Our Story

We were raised in the rich folk cultures of South Louisiana and the Appalachian Mountains, where back-porch songs, stories and conversation convey a shared sense of place and identity that continues to define us today. Now based in New York and New Orleans, we are deeply rooted in the community mindset of our upbringing. Quick wit, good humor and a way with story remain a significant part of our lives.

We take a folkloric, multimedia approach to visual storytelling™.

Folklore is the art of passing stories from person to person, stories that endure because they're beautifully told and keenly felt. We bring that same spirit to every project, blending design and narrative to create multimedia content that makes your story memorable, whether it's about you, your organization or your brand.

Come to Back Porch and sit with us awhile.

Founder | Creative Director

Christa Myers

I'm a multimedia designer and filmmaker whose work has appeared across organizations including the VA, Eileen Fisher, Workman Publishing, PBS, CBS and HBO.

Raised in the Sierra Nevada and the Appalachian Mountains, I grew up skiing and came to love cycling, hiking and kayaking. After earning my B.A. in Integrative Arts from Penn State, I moved to New York and worked in film and television as a graphic and scenic artist.

My interest in cultural traditions led me to a master's degree in Folklore and Ethnography from the University of Pennsylvania, where I studied the connections between belief, identity and community. A graduate certificate in documentary filmmaking from George Washington University sharpened my eye for visual narrative. Today, that background shapes my work in short-form multimedia storytelling.

jenny Temple

I create 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics, logo design and illustration for television and film.

As a student at the renowned New Orleans Center for the Arts (NOCCA), I studied visual arts and fell in love with animation. After completing my undergraduate degree at Loyola New Orleans, I trained further in New York at MTV Studios. There, and later at post-production houses across Manhattan, I created work for clients including MTV, BBC, PBS and VH1.

I then moved west, pairing my love of surfing with new creative opportunities. This led me to a job at KPBS in San Diego, where I produced work for The Clever Cleaver Brothers and the San Diego Theater Critics Circle. I've since returned to my native New Orleans, where I continue my creative career and take part in the city's visual arts, masking and dance traditions.
